How To Deflower A Luminant Virgin has been published. It is a fantasy short story of about 2100 words. Pairing reads as M/F, but is actually ambiguous and includes a made-up race.

I won’t lie, this story is on the weird side.

I’ve been playing with the idea of creating crystallized people for a while now, so this story helped focus some of my ideas.

Done from a human’s point of view so I didn’t have to immediately decide how the race would think/feel/behave or create a full-fledged culture, the story is supposed to be humorous and fun while imparting information on a race I’d like to play with in the future.

Next Sunday, May 11th: Sweet Kiss of Distraction (f, ss, m/m) – It’s distracting all right. (Lianal & Samouru)

Short Story (Approx. 2100)

So, the first thing you need to know about luminants is that while they aren’t as hard as their cousins, the incands, or nearly as reflective as the radiscents, they are still much harder and brighter than human flesh. These are problems, but not unsolvable ones.

A decent pair of tinted glasses or goggles will usually keep the reflections at a nominal level. Most people living in this six-sunned plane usually own a pair or two already so you’re probably already set in that department.

As for the hardness…well, I’ll get to that.

Aura of Happiness, Aura of Love has been published. A fantasy short story of about 5600 words with a M/F pairing.

This story came about from something Brayden says in Kiss. Mouth. Red. “I got it from the basement of that shop on the corner in town. You know the one next to the pizza place? They carry all sorts of spelled crap.”

So I got to brainstorming, wondering about that shop. Who owned it? Who worked in it? Did they create the “spelled crap” themselves?

I wrote an entire sketch of a shop called Glamour Girls and the people within it. When I finished, Aura of Happiness, Aura of Love started almost by itself. It ended up being a sweet romance because making it erotica would have ruined the characters.

Next Sunday, May 4th: How to Deflower a Luminant Virgin (fantasy, short story, m/f) – Hard as rock, sharp as glass. Don’t worry, I’ll teach you how to fuck them right.

Short Story (Approx. 5600)

“We don’t craft love spells. Not even temporary or weak ones.”

Dean paused in his browsing, plucking up one of the pamphlets to pretend to read as he listened in on the conversation occurring on the other side of the shelf.

“You spell flowers with love crap all the time,” snapped a voice. Male. Slight rasp from cigarettes that would only get worse over the years. And when his voice rose at the end of the sentence there was a distinct whine.

7:45 Date has been published. A fantasy mini of about 1300 words with a M/M pairing.

This story almost got away from me. I almost gave the characters names. I almost turned it from erotica to true romance. In fact, I even started writing a scene that would accommodate that turn in the story, but I hated the way it changed the feel from how I’d originally imagined it so tossed the scene.

So, there isn’t a lick of romance in this story.

But that’s okay because next week’s story is all romance.

Next Sunday, April 27th: Aura of Happiness, Aura of Love (fantasy, short story, m/f) – He is not a stalker. He isn’t. Even if he feels like it sometimes.

Mini (Approx. 1300)

He would come at seven forty-five in the morning. Practically like clockwork. Always dressed for work. Always looking so…fuckable.

The guy was tall. Gangly, not willowy. Wary eyes, the color of fresh grass on a bright spring morning. He looked about mid-twenties. Maybe younger, but I doubted. Older, if he aged well.

Published Marks of the Protector Part 2 (f, serial, m/f)

Marks of the Protector (Part 2 of 2) has been published. A fantasy novelette of about 8900 total words with a M/F pairing. Part 2 is approximately 4200 words. It can be found below and under the new Serial page.

I’ve already made a few comments about this story here. The first ending I had come up with ended up being very vague and potentially sad. During the rewrites I connected a few ideas and gave it a far better (and more romantically inclined) ending that fit the story.

Next Sunday, Apr 20th: 7:45 Date (fantasy, mini, m/m) – He had a standing daily routine. Until one day he didn’t show.

Serial: Part 2 of 2 (Approx. 4200 of 8900)

Torches flickered along the walls, burning slowly. Suhar and Garon passed through a huge room with a low ceiling where growlers stopped what they were doing and stared at Garon, making him self-conscious and overtly aware of how little he could defend himself were any of them to decide to take offense at his presence.

The corridors became skinnier and steeper, heading downward, the air growing a little stale. Then they opened back up and Suhar ducked under a heavy skin that looked like a mash up of small animal pelts.

Published Marks of the Protector – Part 1 (f, serial, m/f)

Marks of the Protector (Part 1 of 2) has been published. A fantasy novelette of about 8900 total words with a M/F pairing. Part 1 is approximately 4700 words. It can be found below and under the new Serial page.

I have a massive love/hate relationship with this story. I say love because that’s the only explanation for why I even finished it in the first place. I say hate because I literally couldn’t get it to work. I mean, I started it three distinct different times, wrote 4000-6000 words that went straight into the trash, and then had to deal with it deciding to explode past the length I’d been planning.

I should have just tossed the idea, but for some reason my brain was focused in on the challenge of wrangling this idea into being and wouldn’t let it go. So, after problems with story conflict, too many characters, nonexistent character conflict and emotional development, I finally decided to switch POVs, figuring if it didn’t work this time I’d just let it go and move on. I say that now, but I probably would have kept going until it was done because that’s what I had been doing.

Shifting the POV to Garon ended up making all the difference because, as I discovered, it was his story to begin with.

Next Sunday, Apr 13th: Marks of the Protector (Part 2 of 2).

Serial: Part 1 of 2 (Approx. 4700 of 8900)

Garon had assumed that he’d hear the growlers long before he saw them, considering their size. Assumed that he’d be able to climb high enough he could spend precious moments shifting into hawk to escape. Assumed that the growlers would work alone, given what he knew of bears.

So when the actual growl came from between the pine trees to his left, he instantly turned and ran to his right, eyeing a good tree to throw himself into. He’d not gone three steps when something moved, bulky weight throwing him to the ground, fur pressed against his face and sharp teeth exposed behind lifted lips.
