Do not gravitate toward the man, thinking the similarities in body translate to like-mindedness, for that would be your undoing.

Rather, flatter his hounds, praise their aptitude and direct your requests to them, for then, and only then, will he consider you worthy as anything more than a next meal.

~Emmi

This was one of my favorite image prompts this year, which I’m sure does not surprise you at all, for it reminds me of a houndmaster in all his primal glory ;)

What would your two line story be for this image?

He remembered…a time when he’d been more than sand, more than rock, when he’d been lush, rife with shape and sound, though now only the silence sang to him.

Yet this…being, it promised a new land, one in need of a titan’s power to protect, to cherish…to try again.

~Emmi

Less romantic, unless you envision the titan reforming and willing to risk sorrow again for the love of a man, but I liked this take on the image.

By some trickery, only starlight pierced into the Oracle’s cave as her voice turned breathy and frail.

She told me my first love would leave me early, only to return and kill my second, and that both would be men of power and prestige – though of differing kinds and with differing people.

Got to be creative when there’s a female in the picture, but there’s always a way to make it work :) Apologies for not scheduling the last few weeks. No excuses. Kids are back in school and leaving me time to become sane again. Love you all!

Everywhere was a cemetery of some sort at some time, death merely a precursor to life anew.

But he harbored a fondness for aged headstones, midnight black cats and the undead men who dwelled in such garishly macabre places.

Because what kind of fantasy author would I be without at least one mention of vampires or zombies of some sort? XD

Religious texts waxed on about the red-stained sand representing the sins of the forefathers. The scientists mumbled something about oxidation and reaction.

Maybe they were both right, for when I lay upon the ground with you, I simply can not breathe and my sinful lust controls the very cells of my body.

This is beach week for my family! We’re taking our RV to the Outer Banks (NC) for the first time (so wish us luck!). When we made a patio this spring we had a bunch of sand delivered and dumped in our driveway, not exactly the same thing, but I dug my feet in anyway and wished and wished. Thought a sandy world was appropriate :)

If you wrote a two line story for this picture, what would it be about?

His sponsor’s daughter had been born with an invasive disease that returned year after year…after year.

He obeyed reluctantly the first few times, but it got easier, and when it did, he changed, became a man unrecognizable, a man I no longer trusted, so I fled, not anticipating him following.

I had another story for this image, but it didn’t have any kind of relationship mentioned, the referenced plot in that one dealing with the transfer of souls versus the death of them. Plus the one above, while seemingly sadder, also has a happy ending, where the one I ending up not using seemed happy at first and then twisted sadder.

So better all around I guess :)

This title was difficult as well. The first one was “The One Thing He Couldn’t Stand to Lose” and that’s just a mouthful of awfulness. Granted the title I settled on isn’t the most amazing thing ever either, but it’s…better XD

Stuck to our pegs, we exchanged disconsolate glances from across the room, though he was less likely to give up than I, just as he’d been in our first lives.

“This recipe is too potent,” he insisted, the wooden hinges of his lower jaw clicking, “You’ll explode your lab. What good are we if you don’t listen to our advice?”

~Emmi

I cheated again. What is that? Four lines? But it’s dialogue! It’s not as realistic if it’s all convoluted and long XD

Got a little creative on this one since I didn’t want the girl to be my main, so…I used that nifty, large-toothed mask on the wall. He’s my ‘he’ and the POV is out of sight against the opposite wall.

What would you do with this story? I won’t say use two lines, since I already broke that rule, but which direction would you go? And can you still make it man-loving at the same time? That’s the real challenge for some of these image prompts ;)

Like many beasts of the sea, they only grew as large as their environment allowed.

This one would be a gift to that sailor he’d once take up with, that was, if the man ever returned to port.

~Emmi

Lawl XD And what would happen if the sailor ever gets his gift and then releases it into the sea? Would the creature come back and be a friend? Or attack the ship because it resented being kept tiny?

Honestly, it doesn’t matter much, because the sailor is probably one of those guy-in-every-port types.

What would your two line story be? :)

And when the attack came, it came upon the ivory wings of the brightest light, engulfing all within its path.

Leaving imprints, a visage to torment him with a hope-tinged grief that there might be some remedy to recover who was lost.

~Emmi

This one makes me sad for some reason, so that’s the direction my story went. Though I’m sure the figure could be some type of creature creating a familiar form in order to better communicate or some such.

This is actually a statue; artist uses three-dimensional medium I believe.

Little golems ran amok in the gardens, hiding in the ferns.

They took a liking to all things green and fertile, a gift they’d received from his beloved or, more accurately, his image of his beloved.

I love him so much! He’s adorable, especially since I’m insisting that he’s tiny and cute rather than large and intimidating.

What would your two line story be about him?
