Strange Introductions

Warning: While this story technically can be read as a standalone, it is the first in a series featuring the same two characters. My first Sunday of the month free fiction will cover the rest of Roan & Ari’s story over the coming months.

Partway through writing Strange Introductions, I knew I could have written the second half completely different and I almost did. I would have written Brad King out, just tossed him away, and made Ari unhurt. I would have had them end with the beginning of a sexual relationship rather than just a plan for a date. If I had been being lazy, that’s exactly what I would have done.

But I had all these ideas and didn’t want to rush them along. I wanted to play it out and see an actual friendly, loving relationship grow rather than force something. Plus, I had a mysterious element I wanted to write.

This means I’ve technically only published Roan and Ari’s first story. I have more and plan on doing what I did with Dark Phoenix and Siren Song, where I serialize their story here on my site before removing them all and republishing as one entire book. However, since I’ve gone down to publishing once a month it will take a little longer.

In case you were wondering, Roan and Ari live in Mattateque, the same town Clay (Alley, Grave & Dream) is from, as well as being the setting for the short fiction story Kiss. Mouth. Red.

I’m also hard at work on a couple other longer projects, namely that houndmaster trilogy I mentioned, a standalone houndmaster novella and two other non-related stories that as of yet are indeterminate lengths. Wish me luck because we’ve had far too many snow days lately!
